Sukta 9
षड् जाता भूता प्रथमजर्तस्य षडु सामानि षडहं वहन्ति । षड्योगं सीरमनु सामसाम षडाहुर्द्यावापृथिवीः षडुर्वीः
ṣáḍ jātā́ bhūtā́ prathamajártásya ṣáḍ u sāmā́ni ṣaḍaháṃ vahanti | ṣáḍyogáṃ sī́ram ánu sā́masāma ṣáḍ ā́hur dyā́vāpr̥thivī́ḥ ṣáḍ urvī́ḥ
Six beings were born of the First that moveth; six Sāman-chants bear on the six-day course. Sixfold the yoking of the plough, with chant on chant: six, they say, are Heaven and Earth—six the broad expanses.
முதலில் இயக்கமுடைய அதிலிருந்து ஆறு வகை உயிர்கள் பிறந்தன; ஆறு சாமன் பாடல்கள் ஆறு நாள் ஓட்டத்தைத் தாங்கிச் செல்கின்றன. உழவின் நுகம் ஆறு விதமாக இணைக்கப்படுகிறது—சாமன் மீது சாமன் சேர்ந்து; ‘ஆறு’ எனச் சொல்கின்றனர்—வானும் பூமியும்; ‘ஆறு’ எனவே பரந்த வெளிகள்.
