It imparts Sāṅkhya-style tattva-knowledge: the classification of the five organs of action, five organs of cognition, five sense-objects, and five great elements, emphasizing that the mind functions as their governing coordinator.
By embedding a systematic metaphysical taxonomy (indriyas, tanmātras/sense-objects, and mahābhūtas) within a Purāṇic work, it demonstrates the Agni Purana’s encyclopedic scope—integrating philosophy and yogic psychology alongside ritual, dharma, and other sciences.
Recognizing the mind as the presiding power over sensory activity supports self-restraint (indriya-nigraha) and meditative discipline; mastery of mind and senses is presented as a foundation for purification and liberation-oriented practice.
