इत्य् आग्नेये महापुराणे वाक्पारुष्यादिप्रकरणं नाम सप्तपञ्चाशदधिकद्विशतत्मो ऽध्यायः अथाष्टपञ्चाशदधिकद्विशततमो ऽध्यायः ऋग्विधानं अग्निर् उवाच ऋग्यजुःसामाथर्वविधानं पुष्करोदितम् भुक्तिमुक्तिकरं जप्याद्धोमाद्रामाय तद्वदे

இவ்வாறு அக்னி மகாபுராணத்தில் “வாக்பாருஷ்யாதி” எனப்படும் பிரகரணம் 257ஆம் அத்தியாயம். இப்போது 258ஆம் அத்தியாயமான “ரிக்விதானம்” தொடங்குகிறது. அக்னி கூறினார்—புஷ்கரர் உரைத்த ரிக், யஜுஸ், சாம, அதர்வ வேத விதானங்கள் உலக இன்பத்தையும் முக்தியையும் அளிப்பவை; ராமருக்காக ஜபமும் ஹோமமும் செய்து, அதே முறையில் பிற விதிகளையும் நியமப்படி அனுஷ்டிக்க வேண்டும்।
