Lord Agni (narrating Purāṇic material to Vasiṣṭha, in the typical Agni Purana dialogue frame)

Vidya Category: {"primary_vidya":"Avatara-Katha","secondary_vidya":"Samanya","practical_application":"Connects Raghu to Dilīpa and Aja—key anchors for later Rāma genealogy; supports narrative navigation across Itihāsa and Purāṇa traditions.","sutra_style":true}

Encyclopedic Reference: {"reference_type":"List","entry_title":"Raghu Line Continuation: Raghu → Dilīpa → Aja; (Dīrghavāhu → Kāla → Ajāpāla)","lookup_keywords":["Raghu","Dilīpa","Aja","Dīrghavāhu","Ajāpāla"],"quick_summary":"Extends the Raghu line through Dilīpa and Aja, and appends a brief sub-sequence (Dīrghavāhu–Kāla–Ajāpāla) as a compact genealogical register."}

Alamkara Type: Anuprasa

Concept: Genealogy as a knowledge scaffold: persons become ‘nodes’ that organize stories, rites, and ethical exemplars.

Application: When teaching Rāmāyaṇa-related tradition, use these nodes (Raghu, Dilīpa, Aja) to cross-map episodes and virtues attributed to each king.

Khanda Section: Vamsha-Charita (Royal Genealogies / Itihasa-Puranic Lineages)

Primary Rasa: adbhuta

Secondary Rasa: shanta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A courtly lineage scene: Raghu handing the royal insignia to Dilīpa; Dilīpa to Aja; a side-strip showing Dīrghavāhu, Kāla, Ajāpāla as smaller cameo portraits.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural, royal transfer of crown/insignia in stylized gestures, flat perspective, rich reds and greens, cameo medallions for the side-sequence","tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore, three main kings with gold-embossed regalia, side mini-panels for Dīrghavāhu–Kāla–Ajāpāla, ornate arches and gold leaf","mysore_prompt":"Mysore, diagrammatic yet elegant: portraits with labeled cartouches, connecting lines, emphasis on clarity and didactic layout","mughal_miniature_prompt":"Mughal miniature, investiture moment in a palace interior, fine carpet patterns, attendants, with marginal portraits for the appended sub-line"}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"instructional","suggested_raga":null,"pace":"medium","voice_tone":"instructional"}

Sandhi Resolution Notes:

FAQs

This verse transmits vamsha-vidyā (dynastic genealogy): a structured remembrance of royal succession used in Purāṇic historiography rather than a ritual or medical instruction.

Alongside rituals, dharma, and sciences, the Agni Purana preserves lineages of kings—an index of sacred history that anchors later teachings in a recognized Purāṇic timeline and cultural memory.

Reciting and remembering righteous lineages is treated as smṛti-sādhana—supporting dharmic orientation, reverence for exemplary rulers, and continuity of sacred tradition (paramparā).
