This verse imparts Vamsha-vidya (genealogical knowledge): a structured listing of royal descent-lines used in Purāṇic historiography and the validation of dynastic succession.
By preserving concise dynastic catalogues—names, progenitors, and descent relations—it functions as a historical-index layer alongside the Agni Purana’s ritual, political, and scientific materials, demonstrating its multi-domain, reference-style composition.
Remembering and reciting righteous royal lineages is treated in Purāṇic tradition as smṛti-puṇya (merit through remembrance), reinforcing dharma through exemplars of kingship and continuity of sacred history.
