Concept: Auspicious action is optimized by aligning with weekday-specific numerical/directional constraints and avoiding prohibited sets.

Application: Use the weekday table to choose counts/directions; explicitly avoid the excluded groups on Wednesday when computing/choosing the relevant set.

FAQs

It gives weekday-wise numerical counts used in Jyotiṣa/Muhūrta decision-making, including specific exclusions marked by mnemonic letter-groups (kha, ga, gha, ña, ja) and associated directional indications (east, north).

It illustrates the Purana’s practical, technical cataloging style—embedding calendrical/astrological rules (vara-based counts, exclusions, and directional correspondences) alongside other disciplines, functioning like a handbook for applied ritual time-selection.

Correctly following weekday-based prescriptions and exclusions is presented as a way to align actions with auspicious cosmic timing, reducing obstacles and supporting merit (puṇya) by performing rites and undertakings in harmonized conditions.
