Dosha: Tridosha

Concept: Sankhya-niyama (quantified discipline) and karma-samyoga: siddhi is framed as the fruit of sustained repetition plus homa as confirmatory ‘sealing’ act.

Application: Design a sadhana plan: daily japa quota to reach 30 lakhs, then schedule dashamsha-homa with specified havis; maintain purity, consistency, and accurate counting.

Khanda Section: Mantra-sadhana & Homa-vidhi (Tantric/Mantric Ritual Procedure)

Primary Rasa: adbhuta

Sandhi Resolution Notes: japenmantraṃ = japet + mantram; kuryāddaśāṃśataḥ = kuryāt + daśāṃśataḥ; siddho 'siddho = siddhaḥ + asiddhaḥ; triṃśallakṣaṃ = triṃśat + lakṣam.

FAQs

It prescribes a sādhanā protocol: complete 30 lakh mantra-japa, then perform homa equal to one-tenth of the japa count, using oblations prepared with guggulu and amṛta to generate mantra-siddhi.

Beyond mythology, it records a practical, numbers-based ritual manual (japa-to-homa proportion and specified substances), illustrating how the Agni Purana functions as a compendium of applied religious technology (prayoga) alongside other sciences.

The verse frames disciplined repetition plus consecrated fire-offering as a purifier and empowerer: even an ‘unsuccessful’ practitioner becomes ‘siddha,’ gaining efficacy to accomplish intended spiritual and worldly aims.
