व्रतैरभ्युद्यतः पूतो न प्रेतो जायते नरः ॥ मिष्टान्नपानदाता च सततं श्रद्धयान्वितः

vratair abhyudyataḥ pūto na preto jāyate naraḥ || miṣṭānna-pāna-dātā ca satataṃ śraddhayānvitaḥ

व्रतैः सम्यगभ्युद्यतः शुद्धो नरः प्रेतत्वं न प्राप्नोति। यः श्रद्धया नित्यं मिष्टान्नपानं ददाति स अपि प्रेतो न जायते।
