The People and Brahmins Follow Rama toward Exile
अनवाप्तातपत्रस्य रश्मिसन्तापितस्य ते।एभिश्छायां करिष्यामः स्वैश्छत्रैर्वाजपेयिकैः।।।।
anavāptātapatrasya raśmi-santāpitasya te |
ebhis chāyāṃ kariṣyāmaḥ svaiś chatrair vājapeyikaiḥ ||
अनवाप्तातपत्रस्य ते रश्मिसन्तापितस्य च। एभिः स्वैर्वाजपेयिकैश्छत्रैः छायां करिष्यामः॥
You do not have a royal umbrella and you are scorched by the rays of the Sun. We will offer you shade with the umbrellas acquired during Vajapeya sacrifice.
Dharma is expressed as compassionate service (sevā): the community uses its lawful, ritually earned means to relieve the suffering of a righteous person enduring exile.
As Rama proceeds without royal insignia or comforts, the brahmins offer practical help—shade from the sun—using their umbrellas.
