Kaikeyī’s Protest
अद्य रामाभिषेको वै प्रसिद्ध इति जज्ञिवान्।।।।प्रियार्हां प्रियमाख्यातुं विवेशान्तःपुरं वशी।
adya rāmābhiṣeko vai prasiddha iti jajñivān |
priyārhāṃ priyam ākhyātuṃ viveśāntaḥpuraṃ vaśī ||
अद्य रामाभिषेकः प्रसिद्ध इति ज्ञात्वा, वशी राजा प्रियाख्यानार्थं प्रियार्हां प्रति अन्तःपुरं विवेश।
Aware of the fact that Rama's installation ceremony was known to everybody by then he who had subdued his senses entered the inner apartment to convey it to one worthy of such pleasant news.
Rāja-dharma includes transparency and orderly communication of auspicious public decisions; personal self-control (vaśitva) supports ethical governance and family harmony.
Daśaratha, pleased with the plan for Rāma’s coronation, goes to Kaikeyī’s quarters to share the happy news, unaware of her disturbed state.
Self-mastery (vaśī)—the king’s disciplined temperament, presented as a royal virtue even in intimate, domestic settings.
