Subāhu
Concept: Dāna is the hardest sādhana because it directly confronts possessiveness (mamatā) and fear of loss; therefore it must be practiced deliberately and continually.
Application: Set a fixed portion of income/time for giving; give first (before discretionary spending); give with respect and without publicity; pair giving with remembrance of Viṣṇu to avoid ego.

Sandhi Resolution Notes: तस्मात्सर्वप्रयत्नेन = तस्मात् सर्वप्रयत्नेन; दानाच्च = दानात् च; वापि = वा अपि; द्वयोर्मध्ये = द्वयोः मध्ये
It presents giving as a central human duty (dharma) that should be practiced consistently and intentionally, not occasionally or only under compulsion.
It states that between the two, genuine charity is more difficult—because it requires relinquishing one’s possessions and attachment while benefiting others.
The verse teaches that real spiritual effort includes generosity; inner growth is shown not only by self-discipline (tapas) but also by selfless giving (dāna).
