FAQs

It elevates tirtha-snana (ritual bathing at a sacred site) as a major dharmic act, stating that bathing in the four seas yields the same punya as the renowned gift of a thousand cows and leads to honor in svarga.

While it speaks directly of pilgrimage merit, the implied bhakti element is reverent approach to a holy tirtha—undertaking snana with faith (śraddhā) as an offering-like act that supports a devotional life oriented to sacred places and divine order.

Ritual practice (kalpa-oriented conduct) is emphasized: the verse frames snana at a prescribed sacred location and time as producing a defined merit (phala), using the standard Purāṇic measure of go-dāna as a benchmark.
