Sūta (narrating the Narada Purana discourse in the Uttara-Bhāga)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: vira
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It presents āhāra-niyama (dietary restraint) as a vrata-like discipline whose stated fruit is yoga-mastery, illustrating the Purāṇic emphasis on regulated living as a means to attain siddhi and merit.
While the verse itself is a phala-śruti about restraint, such niyamas are traditionally undertaken as supportive disciplines that steady the body and mind for sustained worship, japa, and devotion—preparatory aids rather than the final goal.
It reflects the practical vrata framework of niyama (regulated conduct) tied to time-bound observance (one month), relevant to ritual discipline and traditional dharma practice rather than a specific Vedāṅga like Vyākaraṇa or Jyotiṣa.
