ब्राह्मणान् यथाशक्ति पायसेनैव भोजयेत्। एवं सकृदपि यो भक्त्या श्रद्धया च समन्वितः करोति, स पुण्यं लभते॥
Nārada (teaching within a vrata/dāna-vidhi sequence; traditionally narrated in Purāṇic dialogue)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It frames charity (dāna) as a bhakti-act: feeding Brāhmaṇas with sincerity and faith, even once, becomes spiritually potent when done according to one’s capacity (yathāśakti).
Bhakti here is expressed through humble service—offering food with śraddhā. The verse emphasizes inner intention (devotion and faith) over mere scale of giving.
Ritual pragmatics: the dāna/annadāna procedure stresses proportional giving (yathāśakti) and proper offering to qualified recipients (Brāhmaṇas), reflecting dharma-śāstric and kalpa-oriented practice rather than grammar or astrology.
