FAQs

It teaches that the consequences of a curse can be alleviated through sincere reconciliation—especially by humbly appeasing the offended brāhmaṇa—showing that dharma, remorse, and respectful restitution can transform one’s ordained fate.

Bhakti is expressed here as selfless concern and loving effort (“matprītyā”) that motivates one to restore harmony; devotion is not only worship, but also dharmic action—seeking forgiveness, honoring saints, and repairing harm.

The verse points to Dharma/Prāyaścitta principles rather than a specific Vedāṅga technique: it emphasizes correct conduct toward brāhmaṇas and the practical ritual-ethical step of propitiation (prasādana) as a means of resolving transgression.
