The Vision of Mohinī (मोहिनी-दर्शनम्)
nirasya pitṛvākyaṃ tu vrajetsnātuṃ surāpagām | no śuddhistasya putrasya itītthaṃ vaidikī śrutiḥ || 23 ||
Narada (teaching in a Vedic-ritual context; Śruti cited as authority)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It teaches that inner dharma—especially honoring rightful authority like a father’s instruction—conditions the fruit of tirtha-bathing; pilgrimage without dharmic conduct does not yield true śuddhi.
Bhakti is not merely external holy acts; it is aligned living—humility, obedience, and sincerity—so sacred practices become offerings rather than shortcuts for merit.
It reflects Kalpa/Smārta-ritual logic: śauca (purity) depends on eligibility and proper conduct (ācāra); a rite like snāna at a tirtha is ineffective when performed in violation of dharma.
