FAQs

Devotional praise is not merely poetic; it draws divine attention and reorients events. The mention of bathing at Gaṅgā also reinforces the purāṇic ethic of tīrtha and purification.

This is ākhyāna (narrative) rather than Pancalakṣaṇa. It links stuti (devotional act) to divine intervention (theophany) within the story.

Gaṅgā-water symbolizes inner cleansing; the Devī’s approach ‘to bathe’ can signify the descent of purity into the field of praise, preparing for revelation of subtler forms (emanation from the ‘sheath’ in the next verse).
