Ethics (self-restraint)Social conductNarrative setup for tapas

FAQs

The verse frames a shift from sensual attachment to restraint and socially appropriate companionship, preparing the ground for a higher pursuit (a difficult goal requiring tapas and resolve).

This is primarily Ākhyāna (didactic narrative) rather than one of the core pañcalakṣaṇa headings; it supports dharma-teaching through story.

Renunciation of strī-bhoga symbolizes withdrawal of the senses (indriya-nigraha), a prerequisite for effective mantra/tapas leading to divine grace.
