Uttara’s Resolve and Draupadī’s Identification of Bṛhannadā as Charioteer (विराट पर्व, अध्याय ३४)
युष्माकं विक्रमादद्य मुक्तो5हं स्वस्तिमानिह । तस्माद् भवन्तो मत्स्यानामीश्वरा: सर्व एव हि,आज मैं तुमलोगोंके ही पराक्रमसे यहाँ शत्रुके पंजेसे कुशलपूर्वक छूटकर आया हूँ। अतः तुमलोग मत्स्यदेशके स्वामी ही हो
yuṣmākaṁ vikramād adya mukto ’haṁ svastimān iha | tasmād bhavanto matsyānām īśvarāḥ sarva eva hi ||
युष्माकं विक्रमादद्य मुक्तोऽहं स्वस्तिमानिह । तस्माद् भवन्तो मत्स्यानामीश्वराः सर्व एव हि ॥
विराट उवाच
The verse highlights righteous kingship and ethical gratitude: a ruler should acknowledge merit, honor protectors, and recognize that true sovereignty rests with those who uphold and safeguard the realm through courage and duty.
King Virāṭa, having been rescued from danger by the heroes’ prowess, declares himself safely freed from the enemy’s hold and publicly elevates his rescuers as the true masters/protectors of the Matsya kingdom.
