निरुक्त वेदविदुषो वेदशब्दार्थचिन्तका: । ते मां गायन्ति प्राग्वंशे अधोक्षज इति स्थिति:,वेदोंके शब्द और अर्थपर विचार करनेवाले वेदवेत्ता विद्वान प्राग्वंश (यज्ञशालाके एक भाग) में बैठकर अधोक्षज नामसे मेरी महिमाका गान करते हैं; इसलिये भी मेरा नाम 'अधोक्षज' है
