Educational Q&A

The verse highlights kāla as an overpowering force: when the ‘turning of Time’ drives people, even allied clans can become a single, destructive will. Ethically, it warns how collective passion and fatalism can erase discernment (viveka) and restraint, accelerating downfall.

In the Mausala Parva’s account of the Yādavas’ end, the Bhoja and Andhaka warriors, acting together under the compulsion of Time, encircle Śaineya—Sātyaki—signaling the escalation into internecine slaughter.
