As a colophon, the verse does not teach through direct instruction; it frames the preceding events within the sacred epic’s structure. In context, the Abhimanyu episode underscores battlefield ethics (yuddha-dharma): when rules are violated and many attack one, the moral cost of victory becomes a lasting burden.
This line signals the end of Adhyāya 55 in the Droṇa Parva, within the Abhimanyu-vadha episode, and labels the chapter as part of the ‘Sixteen Kings’ unit. It functions as a formal closing marker rather than a narrative action.
