Droṇa-parva 55
यस्य सर्व तदा हाुन्न॑ मनो5भिप्रायगं शुचि । कामतो बुभुजुर्विप्रा: सर्वे चान्नार्थिनो द्विजा:
yasya sarvaṁ tadā hānnam manobhīprāyagaṁ śuci | kāmato bubhujur viprāḥ sarve cānnārthino dvijāḥ ||
नारद उवाच—तदा तस्य सर्वमन्नं शुचि मनोऽभिप्रायानुरूपं च। कामतो बुभुजुर्विप्राः, सर्वे चान्नार्थिनो द्विजाः॥
(नारद उवाच
The verse highlights dharmic generosity: pure food, offered in harmony with the giver’s intention, becomes a rightful support for brāhmaṇas and other dvijas who seek sustenance—emphasizing hospitality, purity, and willing giving.
Nārada describes a situation where the person’s provisions are openly available: brāhmaṇas and other twice-born who come seeking food partake of it freely and according to their desire, indicating an established practice of feeding worthy guests.
