Educational Q&A

The verse underscores the inevitability of death in righteous warfare and the grave responsibility of martial skill: in a dharmic battle, decisive action is required, yet every strike carries ethical weight because it sends living beings to Yama’s realm.

Sañjaya narrates a battlefield moment where the opponent’s war-power is neutralized: the chariot team is destroyed (the four horses are slain), symbolically ‘sent to Yama’s abode,’ indicating a swift turning of the fight through superior archery.
