मृगाभिशापान्नष्टं मे जननं हाकृतात्मन: । नृशंसकारिणो भीरु यथैवोपहतं पुरा
mṛgābhiśāpān naṣṭaṃ me jananaṃ hākṛtātmanaḥ | nṛśaṃsakāriṇo bhīru yathaivopahataṃ purā ||
वैशम्पायन उवाच— मृगस्य शापात् मे जननशक्तिर्नष्टा। नाहं स्वात्मनः स्वामी; नृशंसकर्मा कृतवानस्मि। भीरु, तस्मात् मम प्रजननबलं तथैवोपहतं, यथा पुरा तं मृगं हत्वा तस्य मैथुनं विघ्नितवानस्मि।
