Related Themes: Agni Purana: Śānti-kalpa / Puja-vidhi sections on graha-pūjā and varṣa-śānti (adjacent in ch. 262 context)
It prescribes a śānti-oriented ritual application: worship (pūjā) of Parjanya, the Moon, and the Sun as a practical means to correct vṛṣṭi-vaikṛtya (irregular/abnormal rainfall).
Beyond mythic narration, it records applied religious technology—environmental and civic protection rites (śānti-karmāṇi) aimed at public welfare (nagara), showing the text’s coverage of governance-adjacent disaster management through ritual.
By honoring cosmic regulators (rain, lunar, solar powers), the rite is framed as restoring ṛta/dharma-like order in nature, generating merit and pacifying harmful influences that threaten the community.
