Encyclopedic Reference: {"reference_type":"Procedure","entry_title":"Tvaritā root-mantra preliminaries: dīkṣā, nyāsa in Siṃha–Vajra lotus-yantra, and rekhā-vinyāsa (grid lines)","lookup_keywords":["tvarita mula-mantra","simha-vajra kula","lotus-yantra","nyasa","rekha-vinyasa"],"quick_summary":"Introduces the next chapter’s Tvaritā root-mantra practice: perform nyāsa in a lotus yantra of the Siṃha–Vajra lineage, recite the given vocables, and draw a structured set of horizontal and upward lines to form the yantric divisions."}
Weapon Type: Vajra (as kula marker ‘Vajra’), lion-throne as royal/heroic emblem
Concept: Dīkṣā and nyāsa authorize and internalize the deity; yantra geometry externalizes the same power-field—mantra, body, and diagram are made isomorphic.
Application: Before mantra-japa, establish the correct ‘kula’ context, place syllables via nyāsa, then construct the yantra grid precisely (counts and directions) to avoid ritual deviation.
Khanda Section: Tantra-Mantra & Puja-vidhi (Tvaritā-sādhana, Yantra, Dīkṣā and Nyāsa procedures)
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: shanta
Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A sādhaka draws a lotus-yantra labeled ‘Siṃha–Vajra kula’, inscribes a lion-throne symbol at the center, and lays down four horizontal and four upward lines forming a grid; nearby a manuscript shows the vocables ‘he huti vajradanta puru lulu garja’.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural: ritualist seated before a yantra board, lotus diagram in bold red/black, central siṃhāsana emblem, stylized syllables around petals; eight lines (four horizontal, four vertical/upward) clearly shown; lamps and offerings in the margins.","tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore: richly ornamented yantra on a wooden plank with gold accents on lotus petals; central lion-throne medallion embossed; priest performing nyāsa; mantra syllables in decorative script; deep jewel tones.","mysore_prompt":"Mysore: technical yantra-construction plate—clean geometry of lotus and grid, arrows indicating ‘tiryak’ and ‘ūrdhva’ directions, count markers (4+4); small inset of nyāsa on body points; restrained palette.","mughal_miniature_prompt":"Mughal miniature: scholar-priest in a study with yantra board, compass/ruler, manuscript open to the mantra; precise architectural interior; delicate rendering of the lotus grid and central lion-throne icon."}

It gives a Tvaritā-sādhana setup: dīkṣā (initiation), nyāsa placement into a lotus-yantra associated with the Siṃha–Vajra-kula, and a specific mantra-string including fierce seed-words, plus a basic instruction for drawing the yantra lines (horizontal and vertical sets of four).
It exemplifies the Agni Purana’s manual-like coverage of applied ritual technology—chapter colophons, mantra fragments, nyāsa/yantra construction rules, and deity-seat (siṃhāsana) invocations—alongside its many other domains (polity, medicine, poetics, warfare).
By prescribing dīkṣā, nyāsa, and correct yantra formation with the deity’s seat-invocation, the passage frames the practice as ritually authorized and purificatory—aimed at establishing the deity’s presence properly and securing the intended siddhi through disciplined procedure.
