Lord Agni (in instruction to the sage Vasiṣṭha, typical Agni Purāṇa dialogue frame)

Vidya Category: {"primary_vidya":"Tantra","secondary_vidya":"Yoga","practical_application":"Mantra-led dissolution of śabda-tanmātra followed by ekodghāta (single upward lift) to absorb ākāśa-tattva visualized as crystal-like at the nasal-tip inner locus.","sutra_style":true}

Encyclopedic Reference: {"reference_type":"Procedure","entry_title":"Śabda-tanmātra-saṃhāra and Ākāśa-upasaṃhāra at Nāsā-śikhā","lookup_keywords":["akasha-tattva","shabda-tanmatra","ekodghata","sphatika-sannibha","nasaputa"],"quick_summary":"Recite the śabda-tanmātra dissolution mantra, then with a single upward impulse withdraw into ākāśa—visualized as pure crystal—located at the upper tip of the nasal passage."}

Concept: From sound-subtlety to space-subtlety: śabda is the guṇa of ākāśa; dissolving śabda culminates in ākāśa absorption.

Application: Use a precise dhāraṇā point (nasal tip interior) and a clear crystal visualization to steady attention and complete the tanmātra-to-bhūta laya step.

Khanda Section: Yoga–Tantra (Pañca-tanmātra–pañca-mahābhūta saṃhāra / Bhūta-śuddhi)

Primary Rasa: adbhuta

Secondary Rasa: shanta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A yogin recites the śabda-tanmātra mantra; a single upward surge carries awareness to a crystal-clear ākāśa glow at the inner tip of the nostrils.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural, meditating yogin with a thin luminous channel rising to the nose; at nasal tip a transparent crystal orb/field symbolizing ākāśa; minimalistic sacred geometry","tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore, gold-embellished yogin; crystal-like ākāśa rendered with bright white highlights and gold rim near the nose; mantra syllables in decorative bands","mysore_prompt":"Mysore instructional composition: close-up emphasis on nasal region with a clear sphatika-like sphere; single arrow (ekodghāta) from throat to nose; clean didactic labeling","mughal_miniature_prompt":"Mughal miniature, refined portrait of yogin; delicate translucent crystal glow at nostril tip; subtle calligraphic mantra border; soft pastel background"}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"instructional","suggested_raga":"Shuddha Sarang","pace":"medium","voice_tone":"instructional"}

FAQs

It teaches bhūta-śuddhi/tattva-saṃhāra: using a specific mantra-bīja sequence to dissolve the śabda-tanmātra (subtle sound principle) and then withdrawing the ākāśa element through a single upward lift of breath/attention focused at the nasal tip region.

Alongside mythology and dharma, the Agni Purāṇa preserves precise yogic–tantric procedures (mantra, visualization, and internal loci) for elemental purification and dissolution, demonstrating its coverage of practical sādhanā techniques as a technical compendium.

Withdrawing tanmātras and elements is presented as an inner purification that reduces sensory entanglement, supports concentration, and aids liberation-oriented practice by dissolving effects back into subtler causes.
