śrībhagavānuvāca | yaḥ kariṣyati vai śrāddhamasminnahani saṃsthite | kṛṣṇapakṣe caturdaśyāṃ nabhasyasya ca vaṃśajaḥ | bhaviṣyati parā prītiryāvatsaṃvatsaraḥ sthitaḥ
Śrī Bhagavān
Scene: Śrī Bhagavān declares the rule: any descendant performing śrāddha on Bhādrapada dark-fortnight caturdaśī grants supreme satisfaction to the departed for a full year.
Regular, timely ancestral rites sustain intergenerational dharma and bring tangible spiritual relief to the departed.
While Gayā is central to the chapter’s promise of mokṣa, this verse emphasizes the calendrical observance that yields year-long pitṛ-prīti.
A descendant should perform śrāddha on Bhādrapada (Nabhasya) kṛṣṇapakṣa caturdaśī to secure supreme satisfaction for a full year.
