The Description of Mārkaṇḍeya
इति श्रीबृहन्नारदीयपुराणे पूर्वभागे प्रथमपादे मार्कण्डेयवर्णनं नाम पञ्चमोऽध्यायः ॥ ५ ॥
iti śrībṛhannāradīyapurāṇe pūrvabhāge prathamapāde mārkaṇḍeyavarṇanaṃ nāma pañcamo'dhyāyaḥ || 5 ||
Так завершается пятая глава, именуемая «Описание Маркандейи», в первой паде Пурва-бхаги почитаемой «Брихан-Нарадия-пураны».
Sūta (traditional redactor/reciter colophon; not part of the dialogue)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
This is a colophon (adhyāya-samāpti) that formally seals the chapter, preserving textual integrity and helping transmit the Purāṇa accurately through recitation and manuscript tradition.
It does not teach bhakti directly; it functions as a structural marker. Its value for bhakti practice is practical—ensuring devotees and reciters correctly identify the completion of the “Mārkaṇḍeya-varṇana” chapter in Book 1.1.
The verse reflects Vyākaraṇa and textual convention: precise naming of section (bhāga/pāda), chapter title, and number—an archival/recitational discipline used to maintain correct ordering and citation.
