Hari-nāma Mahimā and Caraṇāmṛta: The Redemption of the Hunter Gulika
Uttaṅka Itihāsa
यो वा को वापि विप्रेन्द्र विप्रद्वेषपरायणः । समर्चयति गोविंदं तत्पूजा विफला भवेत् ॥ ६ ॥
yo vā ko vāpi viprendra vipradveṣaparāyaṇaḥ | samarcayati goviṃdaṃ tatpūjā viphalā bhavet || 6 ||
О лучший из брахманов, кто бы ни был тот, кто предаётся ненависти к брахманам, — даже если он с великим почтением поклоняется Говинде, его поклонение становится бесплодным.
Sanatkumara (teaching Narada)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: raudra
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
The verse teaches that devotion is not merely ritual performance; inner disposition and dharmic conduct matter. Hatred toward brāhmaṇas is treated as a serious aparādha that nullifies the spiritual fruit of Govinda-worship.
It frames bhakti as inseparable from humility, reverence, and non-malice toward the learned and virtuous. Worship of Govinda must be supported by right attitude; otherwise, external puja alone does not mature into grace or merit.
Ritual application (Kalpa) is implied: eligibility and purity of the worshipper affect the efficacy (phala) of puja. The verse also reflects dharma-śāstric ethics governing conduct toward brāhmaṇas as custodians of Vedic learning.
