Prāyaścitta for Mahāpātakas and the Sin-destroying Power of Viṣṇu-smaraṇa
विमुक्त एव पापेभ्यो ज्ञेयो विष्णुपरो यतः । नारायणमनांद्यंतं विश्वाकारमनामयम् ॥ ९४ ॥
vimukta eva pāpebhyo jñeyo viṣṇuparo yataḥ | nārāyaṇamanāṃdyaṃtaṃ viśvākāramanāmayam || 94 ||
Лишь его следует знать как поистине освобождённого от грехов, ибо он предан Вишну—Нараяне, без начала и конца, чья форма есть вселенная и кто свободен от всякого страдания.
Sanatkumara (teaching Narada)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
The verse defines true sinlessness as Vishnu-centered devotion: one is considered purified when one takes refuge in Narayana, the eternal and all-pervading Lord.
It presents bhakti as the decisive criterion for purity—being “viṣṇupara” (Vishnu-oriented) is itself the mark of liberation from papa, grounded in contemplation of Narayana’s limitless, cosmic nature.
No specific Vedanga technique is taught in this verse; the practical takeaway is theological discernment (jñeya)—recognizing the liberated person by their unwavering Vishnu-bhakti rather than by external ritual markers.
