itihāsaṃ pravakṣyāmi tavātra nṛpasattama | yaṃ śrṛtvā sarvapāpebhyo mucyate nātra saṃśayaḥ || 60 ||
О лучший из царей, ныне я поведаю тебе священное предание; услышав его, человек освобождается от всех грехов — в этом нет сомнения.
Sage Narada (narrator addressing a king)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It asserts the Purāṇic principle that śravaṇa (devout listening) to a dharmic itihāsa has purifying power, leading to pāpa-kṣaya (destruction of sin) and preparing the listener for higher spiritual realization.
By emphasizing hearing a sacred narrative, it points to śravaṇa as a foundational limb of bhakti—receiving divine teaching with faith, which cleanses the heart and supports devotion-oriented transformation.
No specific Vedāṅga (like Vyākaraṇa or Jyotiṣa) is taught in this line; the practical takeaway is the dharmic practice of attentive listening to scripture and sacred narratives as a recognized means of inner purification.
