आशीविषमिव क्ुद्धं प्रभुं प्राणधनेश्वरम्‌ । यत्नेनोपचरेन्नित्यं नाहमस्मीति मानव:

Transliteration

āśīviṣam iva kruddhaṃ prabhuṃ prāṇadhaneśvaram | yatnenopacaren nityaṃ nāham asmīti mānavaḥ ||

Translation

Бхишма сказал: Царь — владыка и жизни, и богатства человека. В гневе он страшен, как ядовитая змея. Потому следует служить царю постоянно с величайшей осторожностью — действуя так, словно говоришь: «Я не считаю своей жизни», то есть держа жизнь на ладони и идя вперёд в бдительном самообладании.
