वदनै: पश्य संछज्ञां महीं शोणितकर्दमाम् । “देखो
vadanaiḥ paśya sañchannāṃ mahīṃ śoṇita-kardamām |
Санджая сказал: «Смотрите — земля сплошь покрыта лицами, а почва стала кровавой жижей. Поле брани забито украшенными ликами павших героев — сияющими, как луна и звёзды, с прелестными серьгами, с бородой и усами, — и ныне они лежат мрачным свидетельством разорения, которое несёт война».
