Brāhmaṇa-vandana: Criteria for Veneration, Disciplined Speech, and Protective Kingship (अनुशासनपर्व, अध्याय ८)

इस प्रकार श्रीमहाभारत अनुशासनपर्वके अन्तर्गत दानधर्मपर्वमें कर्मफलका उपाख्यानविषयक सातवाँ अध्याय पूरा हुआ

samyag-uccaritā vācaḥ śrūyante hi yudhiṣṭhira | śuśrūṣamāṇe nṛpatau pretya ceha sukhāvahāḥ ||

Бхишма сказал: «О Юдхиштхира, хорошо сказанные слова и впрямь слышат и ценят. Когда царь жаждет слушать, речь, произнесённая должным образом, становится источником счастья и здесь, и после смерти. Потому я почитаю тех брахманов, что учатся со смирением, владеют чувствами, сладки в речи и наделены и знанием шастр, и доброй нравственностью — знающих Непреходящее Высшее; их слова глубоки, как громовые тучи, благоприятны по смыслу и радуют собрание, как клич лебедей».
