Adhyāya 152 — Bhīṣma’s Authorization for Yudhiṣṭhira’s Return to the Capital (नगरप्रवेशानुज्ञा)
umovāca bhagavan sarvabhūteśa bhūtabhavyabhavottama | tvatprabhāvād iyaṃ deva vāk caiva pratibhāti me ||
The verse highlights that true insight and eloquent speech can arise through divine grace: Umā attributes her clarity of expression to Śiva’s prabhāva (spiritual power), emphasizing humility and devotion as the ethical posture before sacred knowledge.
In a dialogue between Umā and Maheśvara, Umā addresses Śiva with exalted epithets—Lord of all beings and supreme over past, present, and future—and states that, by his influence, words are manifesting clearly within her, preparing the ground for further instruction or discourse.
