FAQs

This verse primarily conveys vamśa (genealogical) knowledge—linking Soma → Budha → Purūravas—and records the mythic event of Urvaśī choosing Purūravas; it is narrative-historical rather than a ritual or medical instruction.

By preserving dynastic genealogy and legendary biography, it demonstrates the Agni Purāṇa’s encyclopedic scope: alongside rituals, polity, and śāstras, it also catalogs royal lineages and cultural memory embedded in Purāṇic history.

It highlights the Purāṇic theme that human and divine realms intersect through karma and destiny—Urvaśī’s descent from Svarga to choose Purūravas frames kingship and lineage as part of a cosmically ordered narrative.
