It introduces a vidyā-prada (knowledge-bestowing) mantra along with the Mātr̥kā-mantras—alphabetic seed-syllable sequences beginning with ‘a’—used in tantric recitation and nyāsa-style ritual placement.
By cataloging specialized mantra-systems (Mātr̥kā/akṣara-mantras) alongside other disciplines, the Agni Purana functions as a compendium that preserves ritual technology, linguistic-sacral theory, and practical sādhanā methods within one text.
Reciting and internalizing Mātr̥kā-mantras is presented as purificatory and transformative—aligning speech (vāk), mind, and knowledge—thereby supporting merit (puṇya) and spiritual attainment through disciplined mantra practice.
