Related Themes: Agni Purana 163 (Śrāddha-kalpa conclusion colophon); Agni Purana 164 (Navagraha-homa chapter opening; subsequent homa details expected)
It introduces the Navagraha-homa (planetary fire-offering) as a Jyotiṣa-based śānti rite, stating its practical aims: prosperity, pacification of afflictions, rain, longevity, and nourishment (and noting it may also be employed in coercive/abhicāra contexts).
It marks a thematic shift from Śrāddha (ancestral ritual law) to Navagraha-homa (astral/planetary remedial ritual), showing how the Agni Purāṇa catalogs multiple applied disciplines—dharma-ritual manuals alongside Jyotiṣa-oriented remedial ceremonies.
By prescribing graha-yajña for śānti and well-being (prosperity, rain, longevity, nourishment), it frames planetary propitiation as a means to reduce obstacles and secure auspicious karmic outcomes through regulated Vedic-style offerings.
