FAQs

This verse imparts Sahitya/Natya technical vocabulary—glossing specialized terms used for “difficulty,” a theatrical section (nāṭakāyana), a designation for someone lacking the left side/hand (khalīkāra), and a term used for counting/enumeration (guṇana).

It functions like a compact glossary: the Agni Purana often preserves domain-specific registers (here, performative/literary and lexical usage) by listing terms and their senses, reflecting its wide-ranging, encyclopedic compilation beyond purely mythic narration.

Its significance is indirect: by systematizing correct technical usage in arts and learning, it supports dharmic transmission of knowledge (vidyā) and proper communication in scholarly and performative traditions.
