Chapter 33 —
The Procedure for Pavitrārohaṇa / Installing the Sacred Thread or Consecratory Amulet

Related Themes: Agni Purana 33 (tanmātra-krama; adhidevatā placements; bhūta-śuddhi)
It teaches a tanmātra-based nyāsa/meditation: visualizing a presiding deity at a specific bodily locus (between the feet) and mentally installing then withdrawing the rasa-tanmātra, proceeding sequentially toward the next subtle principle (rūpa-tanmātra).
Beyond mythic narrative, it preserves a precise, practice-oriented ritual technology—mapping deities and subtle elements onto the body and prescribing ordered internal procedures—showing the text’s breadth into tantric liturgy and contemplative technique.
By installing and reabsorbing subtle elements in correct sequence, the practitioner cultivates purification and inward control of the senses, supporting concentrated worship (upāsanā) and the reduction of sensory dispersion.
