पूर्णं वर्षसहस्रं च तपस्तीव्रं महामुने ॥ न कृतं यत्पुरा देवैर्नासुरैरृषिभिर्न च

pūrṇaṃ varṣasahasraṃ ca tapastīvraṃ mahāmune || na kṛtaṃ yat purā devair nāsurair ṛṣibhir na ca

«Por um milhar completo de anos, ó grande muni, praticaste uma austeridade intensa (tapas), como não foi feita outrora pelos deuses, nem pelos asuras, nem mesmo pelos rishis.»
