तस्मिन् सलिलमग्ने तु पुनरन्यं प्रजापतिम् । ब्रह्मा ससर्ज भूतेषु दक्षिणाङ्गुष्ठतो वरम् ॥ वामे चैव तथाङ्गुष्ठे तस्य पत्नीमथासृजत् ॥ २.१७ ॥
tasmin salilamagne tu punar anyaṁ prajāpatiṁ | brahmā sasarja bhūteṣu dakṣiṇāṅguṣṭhato varam | vāme caiva tathā aṅguṣṭhe tasya patnīm athāsṛjat || 2.17 ||
Quando (o mundo) estava submerso nessas águas, Brahmā gerou novamente outro Prajāpati entre os seres: do seu polegar direito produziu o excelente; e, do mesmo modo, do seu polegar esquerdo criou a sua esposa.
