शूलाग्रभिन्नमहिषासुरपृष्ठपीठामुत्खातखड्ग रुचिरांगदबाहुदंडाम् । अभ्यर्च्य पंचवदनानुगतं नवम्यां दुर्गां सुदुर्गगहनानि तरंति मर्त्याः

śūlāgrabhinnamahiṣāsurapṛṣṭhapīṭhāmutkhātakhaḍga rucirāṃgadabāhudaṃḍām | abhyarcya paṃcavadanānugataṃ navamyāṃ durgāṃ sudurgagahanāni taraṃti martyāḥ

Os mortais que, no dia de Navamī (o nono dia lunar), veneram devidamente a Deusa Durgā—cujo trono se assenta sobre o dorso de Mahīṣāsura, o asura-búfalo fendido pela ponta do seu tridente, e cujo braço ostenta um bracelete esplêndido enquanto ergue a espada—atravessam até as dificuldades mais densas, perigosas e impenetráveis.
