Skanda Purana — Prabhasa Khanda, Shloka 24

स्वरादिव्यंजनातीतं वर्णादिपरिवर्जितम् । वाचामवाच्यविषयमहंकारार्द्धरूपिणम्

svarādivyaṃjanātītaṃ varṇādiparivarjitam | vācāmavācyaviṣayamahaṃkārārddharūpiṇam

Transcendendo vogais e consoantes, além de todas as letras e de suas formas, Ele é o próprio objeto do “inefável”, que a fala não pode abarcar; e, contudo, é também o sutil fundamento no qual a egoidade (ahaṅkāra) assume forma parcial.
