Transliteration

yatrādhikṛtya śakunīndharmādharmavicāraṇam | purāṇaṃ navasāhasraṃ mārkaṇḍeyaṃ taducyate

Translation

Aquele Purāṇa que, tomando as aves como base, examina o dharma e o adharma chama-se Mārkaṇḍeya e compõe-se de nove mil (versos).
