कारणं कथ्यतामाशु वह्नीन्द्रवसुभिर्युताः । देवा ऊचुः । दैत्यैः पराजितास्तात संगरेऽद्भुतकारिभिः
kāraṇaṃ kathyatāmāśu vahnīndravasubhiryutāḥ | devā ūcuḥ | daityaiḥ parājitāstāta saṃgare'dbhutakāribhiḥ
«Dizei depressa a causa», (disse Brahmā), enquanto os deuses—acompanhados de Agni, Indra e dos Vasus—estavam diante dele. Os deuses responderam: «Ó pai venerável, fomos derrotados na batalha pelos Dānavas, autores de feitos maravilhosos.»
