मार्कंडेय उवाच । अग्निहोत्रफला वेदाः शीलवृत्तफलं श्रुतम् । रतिपुत्रफला दारा दत्तभुक्तफलं धनम्

Transliteration

mārkaṃḍeya uvāca | agnihotraphalā vedāḥ śīlavṛttaphalaṃ śrutam | ratiputraphalā dārā dattabhuktaphalaṃ dhanam

Translation

Mārkaṇḍeya disse: “Os Vedas dão fruto quando culminam no Agnihotra (oferenda ao fogo). O aprendizado dá fruto quando culmina em bom caráter e reta conduta. A vida doméstica dá fruto no amor e em prole digna. A riqueza dá fruto quando é desfrutada retamente e também doada em caridade.”
