Type: kshetra
Listener: Munīśvarāḥ (sages)
Scene: Mṛkaṇḍa, earnest and humble, requests instruction from the sages; the sages gesture toward the land as if indicating a future sacred foundation.
True gratitude expresses itself as obedient action aligned with dharma, not merely emotion.
The local tīrtha of the Nāgarakhaṇḍa episode, later identified with Bālasakhya and the worship of Pitāmaha, is being prepared for glorification.
No explicit rite here; it is a pledge to perform whatever the sages instruct, which becomes installation and worship in following verses.
